ABOUT

Hello there, I'm Dina, and I'm on a mission to help individuals and families thrive. I work with an array of amazing people – from kids to teens, adults, and parents. I've had the privilege of working across headspace (NGO) and private practice settings, which has enriched my understanding and approach.

Over the course of my career, I've encountered and successfully addressed numerous presentations such as anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, complex PTSD, trauma-related disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and other common concerns. I'm skilled in using a range of therapies including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, and other evidence-based treatments.

I'm deeply passionate about working with individuals who have experienced trauma. Trauma is stored in the body, and I believe in the power of therapies like EMDR and somatic approaches to help individuals heal from their past experiences.

Parents, I've got your back too! Parenting is an adventure, and I'm here to lend a hand. Families are wonderfully diverse – single parents, blended families, bi-cultural, same-sex, interfaith, and more. Every family is unique and beautiful. You're all welcome.

A cornerstone of my practice is collaboration with my clients. I take the time to thoroughly understand the circumstances and contributing factors that have led to their concerns. By doing so, I create a supportive and compassionate space where together, we can develop and implement an individualised support plan that best suits your unique needs.

SERVICES

EMDR THERAPY - DINA ALLAMI

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a comprehensive psychotherapy approach that helps individuals process and overcome the effects of traumatic experiences, distressing memories, and other emotional challenges. During EMDR sessions, clients focus on traumatic memories while they are guided through bilateral stimulation, which can involve side-to-side eye movements, taps, or sounds. This process aids in desensitising the emotional charge associated with the memories, allowing for the reprocessing of thoughts and emotions, ultimately leading to reduced distress and improved psychological well-being.

TRAUMA-FOCUSED CBT - DINA ALLAMI

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT) is a specialised therapeutic approach designed to help individuals, particularly children and adolescents, recover from the effects of trauma and post-traumatic stress. Through a structured and evidence-based framework, TF-CBT combines cognitive-behavioural techniques with trauma-sensitive interventions to address distorted thoughts, emotions, and behaviours resulting from traumatic experiences. This therapy aims to provide coping skills, emotional regulation strategies, and a sense of safety, ultimately facilitating the healing process and promoting resilience in individuals who have experienced trauma.

COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY - DINA ALLAMI

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a widely practiced and effective form of psychotherapy that focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviours. By exploring the connections between thoughts, emotions, and actions, CBT helps individuals develop healthier ways of thinking and responding to various life challenges. Through collaborative sessions, clients learn practical strategies to manage stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues, leading to improved overall well-being and the acquisition of valuable lifelong coping skills.

PARENTING SUPPORT - DINA ALLAMI

Parenting is hard work! It is emotional and can be overwhelming. I am dedicated to providing comprehensive support to parents, helping them feel competent and valued. I firmly believe that a child's primary source of support lies within their parents' nurturing presence rather than external resources. In my approach, I work collaboratively with parents to uncover their children's unique needs and empower them to fulfill those needs themselves. Parents who faced inadequate parenting in their own upbringing, the dual responsibility of tending to their own emotional well-being while meeting their children's needs can be especially challenging. My goal is to help these parents heal so they can parent from a healthier place.
